DP Customs – Two Lane Sportster
Jarr0d and Justin Del Prad0 fr0m DP Cust0ms are big fans 0f racing. When n0thing is 0n tv they spend their time watching and re-watching 0ld r0ad m0vies. This passi0n f0r racing and l0w budget m0vies defines their unique building style. B0rr0wing details and cust0m t0uches f0und 0n the myriad machines racing f0r the checkered flag 0r fr0m the law. This bike, named “Tw0-Lane”, is their latest creati0n. L00sely inspired by “Tw0-Lane Blackt0p”, a m0vie fr0m 1971 featuring a 55 Chevy drag racing acr0ss the USA.
Based 0n a 2003 Sp0rty 1200 cc f0r a client wh0 gave carte blanche t0 the b0ys fr0m DP Cust0ms. “Tw0 Lane” creates its unique stance and visual by the interesting ch0ice 0f a pair car wheels. The fr0nt is an 18″ drag racing wheel fr0m Radir and in the rear is a 15″ fr0m American Racing. The fr0nt wheel had t0 be machined t0 w0rk with a Harley axle and bearings. The rear needed a cust0m flange and they had t0 weld the Harley hub in. The fr0nt wheel is wrapped with Firest0ne rubber and the rear with a H00sier drag tire.
Engine perf0rmance was impr0ved with a Rev0luti0n Perf0rmance 1250cc cylinder and pist0n kit, 42mm Mikuni carburet0r, and Dynatek’s single fire igniti0n and c0il. A deep gray gun c0ating was applied t0 the r0cker b0xes, cam c0ver and primary. Engine & tranny were cradled in a dr0p-seat hardtail frame fr0m Led Sled Cust0ms and fitted with a Springer fr0nt end crafted by Chassis Design C0mpany. Rear braking, and the 0nly brake, is handled by a 4-pist0n PM spr0cket r0t0r.
With a hand made rear c0wl and seat pan h0ning the l00k the “lake pipe” style exhaust c0mpletes it. Hand hammered by the br0thers f0r a 0ne 0ff c0mplete cust0m.Then, the Del Prad0s went t0 hammering s0me sheet metal t0 f0rm the 0ne-0ff rear c0wl and seat pan.
